Sign the Petition Opposing Councilmember Liz Walsh's (D-Ellicott City) Bill To End Howard County's Agreement With Immigrations & Customs Enforcement!
Make no mistake about it...Walsh's bill isn't just a step toward making Howard County a sanctuary for illegal immigrants...
It's a strategic move in the effort to defund the police at every level.
For the last 25 years, an agreement has been in place between Howard County Government and Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (ICE) enabling ICE to temporarily house detainees at the county's detention center in Jessup, in part because of its central location between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. and its proximity to I-95. This agreement is a key source of revenue and provided Howard County Government over $2 million in 2019.
Take away $2 million from the county budget and less money can go to critical services such as - you guessed it - policing.
They say the ICE contract makes residents less safe!
You read that right. We're not making this up. See Indivisible Howard County's tweet below:
Facts are facts, folks. Cooperation among law enforcement at the local, state, and federal levels make us safer. That is unless you are a drug dealer, a human trafficker, or an illegal immigrant.
Don't let Liz Walsh and the progressive extremists systematically defund law enforcement.
