KITTLEMAN RELEASES FUNDRAISING REPORT
Announces $434,464.13 raised, $725,258.78 in the bank for reporting period.
For Immediate Release, January 18, 2017
The Committee to Elect Allan Kittleman announced it raised $434,464.13 and had $725,258.78 in the bank for the most recent reporting period ending January 13, 2017, according to reports to be filed today with the Maryland State Board of Elections.
“Between the record snow storm in January, the tornado that ripped through parts of western Howard County in June, and the historic flood that ravaged Old Ellicott City on July 30th, we haven’t had much time for politics. I think our fundraising strength is an indication that people appreciate the progress my Administration has made rebuilding Main Street Ellicott City and on initiatives our residents care about most.”
Indeed, 2016 was a very active year for the Kittleman Administration. In November, the County Executive facilitated the transfer of Merriweather Post Pavilion and secured the Council’s approval to fund the Downtown Columbia Plan. Originally agreed to in 2010, the Plan lays the groundwork for a multiyear effort that ushers economic drivers aimed to bring jobs and much needed new real estate to the area, including additional affordable housing options.
Last Spring, in a move lauded by education advocates, parents, and teachers alike, Kittleman initiated a rare budget maneuver that enabled the full funding of special education programs and teacher salaries. Additionally, the Kittleman Administration funded an independent review of facilities suspected of containing mold and moved forward on efforts to secure land in Jessup for the construction of the long awaited 13th high school.
The County Executive held true to his commitment to stay personally engaged with residents. In 2016, as he did in 2015, Kittleman hosted four town hall meetings, each in a different area of the county.
“Just as it was on day one, it remains critical for me to listen and understand the community’s priorities. I greatly value the input, and it certainly helps that the residents of Howard County feel like they can engage with their County Executive.” Kittleman said.
In the months ahead, Kittleman has his sights set on strengthening historic Ellicott City and focusing on economic development throughout Howard County. The Kittleman Administration is also positioning itself to build a new courthouse in Ellicott City, move forward with the redevelopment of the Long Reach Village Center, and improve access to the Columbia Gateway Business Park in Columbia.
On Feb 16th, 2017 at 11:30am, the County Executive will deliver his third State of the County Address at Turf Valley in Ellicott City.
