Central Committee Selects Novotny for 9A Vacancy

The Republican Central Committee of Howard County is pleased to announce its selection of Reid J. Novotny to fill the vacancy in the House of Delegates, District 9A, created by the recent resignation of Delegate Warren Miller. The Carroll County Central Committee is expected to vote on January 7, 2021. If Carroll County also selects Mr. Novotny, the two committees plan to send a join letter to Governor Larry Hogan, recommending Mr. Novotny’s appointment.

The Committee interviewed six candidates for the vacancy and expresses its thanks to all who participated in the selection process. Mr. Novotny was chosen by secret ballot at a public Zoom meeting on January 6th.

Mr. Novotny has served since 2019 as a member of the Republican Central Committee of Howard County, and as a member of the Technology Committee for the Maryland Republican Party. In 2020, he became a member of the State Party’s nominating committee. Prior to that service, he was a candidate for the State Senate in District 9 during the 2018 election.

An Air Force Veteran and member of the Maryland National Guard, Mr. Novotny holds master’s degrees in Computer Science / Security and Strategic Communications.
