Allan Kittleman Receives Endorsement of Howard County Civil Rights Crusader

Howard County Executive Candidate Allan Kittleman has received the endorsement of local civil rights leader and former Howard County NAACP President, Rev. Douglas B. Sands.

“I am humbled and honored to receive this endorsement…Rev. Sands has been a part of my life since I was a child. I recall fondly the time I spent with the Sands family as my father, Bob Kittleman, worked with Rev. Sands and others to desegregate the Howard County Public School System and end discrimination by businesses along Route 40 and other areas in Howard County.”

Rev. Sands, who celebrated his 80th birthday earlier this year, is known specifically for his desegregation efforts in the Baltimore area in the 1950’s and 60’s. Rev. Sands’ efforts were recently featured in an August 9, 2014 article in the Baltimore Sun.

“Allan Kittleman is a man of integrity and someone I trust to do the right thing for our community. I am hopeful that Allan will be successful in becoming the next Howard County Executive.

He, along with his father, has set the precedent of a good public servant for our state. I consider it a privilege to help him and work towards the success of his campaign.”

Rev. Sands will also be featured in a television ad for the Kittleman campaign set to air on September 2, 2014.
